Deep down into the dungeons, that’s what most would say, I suppose. But a thought into why this came into existence needs to be looked at. India, Pre-Independence was dominated by the British no doubt but dominant Indians in their administration were supposedly the so “Forward Class”. Lawyers, Doctors, Inspectors, name the top professions and you find these men in the top rung of the ladder. The stark truth is that the other communities ‘ backward’( I hate to mention this word) were looked down upon. No wonder Independent India brought up this rule of reservation to bridge the widening divide.
Close to Six decades of Independence, do we still need these reservations? All right, we have been having this for such a long time, many communities benefited and many didn’t. I think its high time the policy is done and dusted. Let us stop having categorization in terms of caste. Government should only differentiate people in terms of the average income that a family gets. Benefits and scholarships should be given to low income groups and this is the only way forward.
Economist, analysts keep portraying India as this “Global Hub”, “Silicon Valey2”, an “Economic superpower” and on the other hand we have our “ beloved heroes”, politicians playing caste politics to woo voters and finally when they reach the “ throne” they aimed at, they take care of there own interest……A naked truth in the papers Sonia Gandhi, karunanidhi and the “Godmother” Amma with more than 25 crores worth of assets with careers only in politics.
In the near future, I certainly, for sure, don’t know where India is heading in terms of it politics and its reservation Policies. I think the comman man has to fight it out and find a way to succeed in whatever he wants to achieve. Indians will find a way out, easy or the tough route, I think we will fight it…….afterall we are Indians and its GRIT….thats what we are made of.
